Why We Started Foundations First Idaho
We both arrived at foundation repair from different backgrounds, but shared the same vision: building a company that approaches this work with the integrity it deserves.
Our Construction Experience
Our combined experience spans marine construction, helical and sheet-pile systems, residential framing, paving operations, and commercial-scale projects. Over the years, we’ve partnered with exceptional builders and contractors. We’ve also witnessed what happens when companies chase volume over craftsmanship or margins over honest service.
Specializing in foundation repair was a natural choice. This work is foundational—literally supporting everything above it. Homeowners deserve professionals who respect that responsibility and refuse to compromise on quality.

Mike Burrows
Owner
Mike brings a strong foundation (literally) from marine construction and specialized experience with helical pile systems and sheet-pile installation—expertise that translates directly to foundation repair work. His background in marine construction taught him the importance of proper structural support in challenging soil conditions, skills that serve San Antonio homeowners well given our clay soil and drainage challenges.
Mike is hands-on with every project. You won’t find him just in the office—he’s involved in evaluating properties, overseeing installations, and making sure work meets the standards we’ve set for the company. His approach is straightforward: understand the problem, explain it clearly to the homeowner, and fix it right.
Outside of work, Mike values family time and understands that the homes we work on aren’t just structures—they’re where families build their lives.
Joe Smith
OWNER
Joe’s construction career spans residential framing, commercial paving, and insurance claim adjustment—a combination that gives him a unique perspective on both the technical and business sides of foundation work.
He started framing houses in the ’80s, learning from experienced builders who taught him the importance of precision and quality. After years in paving and running his own asphalt company, Joe moved into insurance, adjusting large-loss claims. That experience showed him firsthand how foundation problems develop, what causes the most serious damage, and how important it is to address issues before they become catastrophic.
When the opportunity came to partner with Mike and focus on foundation repair, it combined everything Joe had learned: understanding structural integrity from framing, project management from running his own business, and the critical importance of prevention and proper repairs from insurance work.
